What about glare?
Frubi® Shades offer instant relief from bright sun and glare. We recommend you put them on the first time when you are outdoors or in the car. Wear Frubi® shades all year long.
What eye diseases have been linked to sun damage?
Cataracts, macular degeneration, pterygiums (red, fleshy growths in the corner of the eyes), keratitis (snow-blindness), and eyelid cancer have all been linked to sun exposure.
Why do I need sunglasses for my child?
The human eye is ten times more sensitive to harmful UV rays than your skin. The lens of a child allows 70% more UV rays to reach the delicate retina than in an adult. Approximately half of the entire time we spend outdoors in our lifetime occurs in the first twenty years of our life. Yet how many of us consider sunglasses for our children a necessity like using sunscreen? Not many! Children’s eyes need all the protection they can get!
Today, the number of people worldwide who understand the relation between sunrays and serious eye disease is shockingly low. In one recent survey in America, 80% of those polled understood that UV rays cause skin cancer, while only 6% understood that UV rays causes cataracts! We need your help! Please join our campaign and tell everyone you know to wear protective sunglasses outdoors!
What makes Frubi® Shades special?
Designed by a leading ophthalmologist, this patent pending eyewear is molded into one soft piece for comfort and safety. Frubi® Shades are spongy, form fitting, and look great! The Ultraguard Lens is specially created for maximum protection. Frubi Shades are not toys, but backed by serious science.
Since my kids normally pull their sunglasses off instantly, why will Frubi® Shades stay on?
There are two good reasons why. First, unlike the hard plastic materials that normal sunglasses are made of, Frubi® Shades are composed of a soft, spongy, molded material that is comfortable and non-threatening. Frubi Shades are so comfortable that babies will be able to fall asleep wearing them whether in their car seat or their stroller. Second, with an adjustable Velcro strap in the back, Frubi®Shades will stay put. They won’t get pulled off, and they won’t slide down a tiny nose. What’s even better, your kids will keep them on because they are so comfortable they don’t even know they are wearing them. They just knw the sun isn’t bothering their eyes anymore!
What are the temple pads designed for?
The soft temple pads not only add protection and comfort, but they also eliminate the need for small parts that can break or be pulled apart. The soft wrap-around temple pieces means baby won’t choke on a hard surface if they try to put it in their mouth. The temple pads also shape the soft glasses so they look like regular sunglasses instead of just laying flat around the head, which helps eliminate excess perspiration around the eyes.
Can my kids wear their Frubi® Shades in the pool or in the water at the beach?
Yes! One of the reasons we made Frubi®Shades out of this soft spongy material is that they float. So if they do come off, your kids can easily put them back on and away they go.
How do I care for my Ultraguard Lens?
The Ultraguard Lens is not only extremely protective to the eyes it is also shatterproof. However, since it is made of a tough polycarbonate material, it can also scratch. If the lens gets dirty, it is best to clean it with lens cleaner or soapy water and dry with a soft lens cloth.
Can the Ultraguard Lens shatter if it gets hit?
No! The Ultraguard Lens not only protects from harmful sunrays, but also from fingers or other foreign objects that might be coming toward the eye. Since young children fall a lot, it is also comforting to know that the soft spongy frames won’t damage their eyes and skin.
Should my kids wear their Frubi® Shades in the car?
Yes! The windows of the car will block some of the UV rays, but virtually none of the blue light. Therefore, when your kids are riding in their car seats, make sure you also strap on their Frubi®Shades.
When can my older kids get Frubi® Shades?
Frubi® Shades for older kids are now in development. We are hoping to have them into the market by the end of 2007.
What if my baby puts Frubi® Shades in his/her mouth?
Frubi®Shades are made of a non-toxic material that can’t hurt your baby. Frubi®Shades have been tested so many ways to insure your children’s eyes will have the maximum protection possible with a pair of sunglasses your children will want to wear.
This product is not a toy!
Teach Your Child to Wear Frubi® SHADES
Wearing Frubi® Shades, just like wearing sunscreen or fastening a seat belt, is a learned phenomenon. Kids learn fast, but if you don’t teach them to wear children’s sunglasses, they will never learn. Here are some of our suggestions on how you can get your child to love wearing Frubi® Shades.
1) When you first put Frubi® Shades on your child they should be in the sun - not indoors.
2) Make sure the ULTRAGUARD® lenses on the Frubi® Shades are clean. If not, clean them with a lens cleaner and soft cloth. If you don’t have lens cleaner, soap and water will do. Just don’t dry them with an abrasive paper towel.
3) Center the Frubi® Shades so the nosepiece rests on the tiny bridge of the nose and the temple straps above the ears. Adjust the Velcro strap to be just tight enough so that they don’t slip down, but not tighter. If they are too snug a tiny red spot from the nosepiece may appear.
4) It is normal, especially for infants, to try to pull the Frubi® Shades off at first. But the more you put them back on and encourage them to wear them, the easier it gets. Start your child as young as possible. Remember that wearing Frubi® Shades for 5 minutes the first time is wonderful. It’s a new experience so build the time up gradually.
We hope these tips will help you get your child comfortable with Frubi® Shades soft protective eyewear for kid’s. Once your child is happily wearing Frubi®Shades, send us a digital photo and we will consider adding it to our Frubiland Photo Gallery section of this website.
